Registration: Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations | Lunch & Learn: The Community Safety Team- Who We Are and What We Do

"Join this session to learn about Winnipeg's Community Safety Team!

The Winnipeg Community Safety Team was established in the fall of 2023 as part of the continuum of emergency and front-line social services in the City. The team of Safety Officers work alongside Winnipeg emergency services, safety patrols, and social agencies, employing a trauma-informed approach to their interactions with the public. Safety Officers currently patrol on and around the Winnipeg Transit system, including riding on buses, in marked vehicles, and on-foot around Downtown Transit hubs . Join the session to learn about the City of Winnipeg's newest safety group.

Presenter:

  • Bob Christmas: Bob Chrismas' public service career spans a broad spectrum of peace-keeping roles across three levels of government and the non-profit sector. In fall of 2023 Bob was appointed to establish Winnipeg's new Community Safety Team. Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg (1988) and a Joint University of Winnipeg/University of Manitoba Master of Public Administration Degree, which he completed, with distinction, in 2009. Bob went on to complete a Doctorate in Peace and Conflict Studies at the Arthur V. Mauro Center for Peace and Justice, University of Manitoba, and was awarded the Distinguished Dissertation award for 2017."
