The Winnipeg Community Safety Team was established in the fall of 2023 as part of the continuum of emergency and front-line social services in the City. The team of Safety Officers work alongside Winnipeg emergency services, safety patrols, and social agencies, employing a trauma-informed approach to their interactions with the public. Safety Officers currently patrol on and around the Winnipeg Transit system, including riding on buses, in marked vehicles, and on-foot around Downtown Transit hubs . Bob Christmas: Bob Chrismas' public service career spans a broad spectrum of peace-keeping roles across three levels of government and the non-profit sector. In fall of 2023 Bob was appointed to establish Winnipeg's new Community Safety Team. Bob holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg (1988) and a Joint University of Winnipeg/University of Manitoba Master of Public Administration Degree, which he completed, with distinction, in 2009. Bob went on to complete a Doctorate in Peace and Conflict Studies at the Arthur V. Mauro Center for Peace and Justice, University of Manitoba, and was awarded the Distinguished Dissertation award for 2017."
