"Join Social Planning Toronto on November 12th, from 6:00-8:00pm to attend a virtual session where we will engage in advocacy to ask the City to make reducing poverty a priority. This session is part of a capacity-building series for community leaders interested in working towards poverty reduction in the city.
In July 2024, community leaders got together with Social Planning Toronto and shared what they wanted to see prioritized in the City’s Poverty Reduction Strategy. Now the City of Toronto is in the process of seeking input on the 2025 City Budget, and we need to make sure that poverty reduction priorities are fully funded!
We will discuss strategies on how to amplify poverty reduction priorities in this year’s City Budget and engage in a letter-writing action to tell City Council to release the Poverty Reduction Strategy Third Term Action Plan - it’s been delayed for much too long!
In this session, we will cover:
Refresh on Poverty Reduction Strategy and its current status
How does the City Budget impact poverty reduction? How does the City Fund poverty reduction?
‘What We Heard’ from Community-Led Pre-Budget Consultations, Guest: Albion Services
Letter-Writing Group Action - Ask City Council to support poverty reduction
How to use the Poverty Reduction Strategy Media Kit
