"The objective of this study was to better understand the specificities of the trajectories of French-speaking immigrants in rural Francophone communitiesin Northern Ontario and New Brunswick. The researchers focused on all stages, from recruitment to long-term settlement. The methodology included a literature review, an analysis of 2021 Census data, and interviews with French-speaking immigrants, stakeholders and businesses.
Join us to reflect on:
the differences between the immigrant experience in Ontario compared with that of New Brunswick;
the particular challenges experienced in rural areas that could have an impact on IRCC programs;
the most decisive factors to consider if IRCC wishes to further support regionalization;
ways of encouraging companies to become more involved in recruitment and settlement in rural areas."
