Over 68% of the population in Mexico is affected by climaterelated disasters, creating a growing trend of internal displacement and migration. This presentation covers the findings of the survey by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to provide a better understanding of environmental migration in agriculture and resource-dependent communities in southern Mexico.
Join us as we reflect on IRCC’s current and future role in environmental migration, while exploring:
strategies to support or collaborate with other countries to manage environmental migration and reduce pressures on Canada’s immigration system;
the impact of environmental and climate factors on human mobility, migration patterns, and migration decisions;
the application of evidence-based data on environmental migration for informed policymaking.
Presentation – for IRCC employees (GCDOCS)
Presentation – for external participants (GCcollab)
