A lack of comprehensive health workforce data makes it difficult effectively design and evaluate targeted supports for internationally educated health professionals in Canada. WES has examined how different stakeholders collect and share health workforce data and found that it is nearly impossible to ascertain how many IEHPs are in the country and where they are in their journey towards professional re-entry. In this webinar, WES will:
Contextualize the fragmented health workforce data landscape in Canada
Share key findings from a fall 2023 survey of internationally educated nurses (IENs) not currently working as nurses in Ontario
Offer key considerations and policy implications linked to improving the health workforce data landscape in Ontario and Canada and more effectively supporting IENs in their journey towards registration and professional re-entry
Presenters:
Joan Atlin – Director, Strategy Policy and Research (SPR), WES Canada
