The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) is hosting two three-days forums focused on Diversity, Inclusion and Reconciliation. We will be bringing together 100 Canadian youth from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Yukon, Nunavut and The Northwest Territories per forum.
The forums will comprise of diverse activities such as workshops, panel discussions and presentations to discuss diversity, inclusion and reconciliation issues within youth communities.
The forums will enable youth to develop an understanding of broad EDI topics:
Women and girls rights
Understanding and support for people with disabilities
Anti-racism
Respect for the histories, contributions, perspectives and reconciliation with Indigenous communities in Canada. There will be age-appropriate content related to Indigenous lifestyle, culture, treaties, agreements, residential schools and their legacy. Youth from across Canada will learn how to establish and maintain a mutually respectful relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
