Registration: Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations | Decoding Race for White Leaders (silkstart.com)

Who should attend? The event is tailored for Non-BIPOC/ White leaders working to dedicate space for reflection, learning, and practice who aspire to lead with equity.

 

Summary:

Initiate your journey as a Non-BIPOC leader to move past discomfort in racial literacy and active allyship to promote strong relationships and cultures of belonging through this session. This keynote is designed to support participants in beginning to look at whiteness as a system of power, and to help white leaders start to investigate their own racial identity with the attendant's unspoken assumptions and behaviours brought into the workplace. You will be guided to lead from a place of self-awareness around race, recognizing the importance of taking an intersectional approach to identity, while also being able to step into your power in constructive ways that promote relationship building and create authentic cultures of belonging.

 

Keynote Speakers:

  • Emma Lind (B.A., M.A., PhD), Director of Training and Development
  • Husayn Symonds (L.L.B., B.A.), Anti-Black Racism and Equity Educator

 

Keynote session objectives:

  • Participants will understand patterns of whiteness and how it plays out in the workplace, including microaggressions, fragility, and privilege;
  • Participants will learn how to step into power in an equitable and transparent ways

 

Participants will receive a copy of the presentation's slide deck and a list of recommended reading to support the learning process.
