Pathways to Prosperity 2021 National Conference: A Hybrid Event

Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose: Post-COVID Strategies to Address Enduring Challenges in the Settlement and Integration of Newcomers in Canada

November 8-10, 2021

Westin Hotel, Ottawa

With virtual access to some components of the Conference for those who cannot attend in person

“We are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Ninth Annual Pathways to Prosperity National Conference and the Pathways to Prosperity Conference for Local Immigration Partnerships and Réseaux en immigration francophone, to take place at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa on Monday November 8 to Wednesday November 10, 2021. There will also be virtual access to some components of the Conference for those who cannot attend in person. In addition, all registrants will have access to the Virtual Workshop Series to take place in January – March 2022.

The theme for this year’s conference is: Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose: Post-COVID Strategies to Address Enduring Challenges in the Settlement and Integration of Newcomers in Canada. This theme acknowledges that many of the topics that we will be covering are not new but instead are enduring issues that require our sustained attention in order to support the settlement and integration of newcomers in Canada in the post-COVID era. It is not enough to cover these topics as a one-off in a single conference or event. We must work to engage with them at a deep level in order to truly understand and promote meaningful change. Topics to be highlighted will include anti-racism initiatives and initiatives to address Islamophobia, strategies for supporting Indigenous-immigrant relations, and how to optimize immigration and settlement in Canada post-pandemic for the benefit of of all using our research, policy and practice.

The main conference (November 8 and 9) will include two keynote speakers and 3 plenary sessions, available to all who register, including those who participate in person and remotely. In-person activities at the main conference will also include in-person concurrent workshops and several facilitated networking opportunities, a poster session, an evening reception, access to exhibitors, access to the virtual conference platform, and access to the Virtual Workshop Series to take place January to March 2022.

The Conference for Local Immigration Partnerships and Réseaux en immigration francophone (November 10) will include two plenary sessions, available to all who register, including those who participate in person and remotely. In-person activities at the Conference for Local Immigration Partnerships and Réseaux en immigration francophone will also include in-person concurrent workshops and facilitated networking opportunities, access to posters and exhibitors, access to the virtual conference platform, and access to the Virtual Workshop Series to take place January to March 2022.

In addition to live streaming of the keynote speakers and plenary sessions for virtual participants, virtual registration will include access to posters, ability to network with poster presenters, exhibitors and other registrants, and access to the Virtual Workshop Series to take place January to March 2022.

To be inclusive, we will be providing simultaneous interpretation for the keynote speakers and plenary sessions (both in person and virtual) and closed captioning for virtual attendees.

Join researchers, service providers, Local Immigration Partnerships, Réseaux en immigration francophone, representatives of all levels of government, and others working in the area of immigration for a three-day event on Post-COVID Strategies to Address Enduring Challenges in the Settlement and Integration of Newcomers in Canada.“
